Untethered Jailbreak iOS 4.2.1 from Comex to Release After Verizon iPhone?

0
Untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1 slightly delayed. Yesterday I've reported you about the last estimates for untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1 from Comex the well-known iPhone hacker. Apparently he still hesitated about releasing it, as he started his reply to someone asked him about the timing with "I don't know"
i0n1c asking: so is not waiting for the next iOS for untethering?
Comex replying: I don't know, I think I'm waiting for the Verizon iPhone.
Till know Comex isn't able to give us an exact estimate for his long awaited untethered jailbreak on iOS 4.2.1, he may care about patching his jailbreak exploit on Verizon iPhone 4 iOS 4.2.5, I think it's an acceptable excuse for Comex to let Verizon iPhone 4 users able to jailbreak their devices once they got it.

0
Want to know what's new on iOS 4.3? Couple of hours back, Apple seeded iOS 4.3 beta 1 for members who are enrolled in the iOS Dev Center program. In this post, I'm gonna show you what's new in iOS 4.3 beta 1.

New Multi-touch Gestures to iPad:

iOS 4.3 brings new multi-touch gestures to the iPad. The new four and five finger gestures makes movement much easier, quicker and better; pinch to the home screen, swipe up to reveal multitasking tray, swipe left/right to switch apps.
Test Multi-Touch Gestures for iPad
This beta release contains a preview of new Multi-Touch gestures for iPad. You can use four or five fingers to pinch to the Home Screen; swipe up to reveal the multitasking bar; and swipe left or right between apps. We are providing this preview before releasing them to the public to understand how these gestures work with your apps. Test them and give us your feedback on the Apple Developer Forums.

Personal Hotspot to all iPhones

As expected, Apple has pushed personal hotspot feature to all iPhones on iOS 4.3 but it'll work like tethering on AT&T, likely with those fun-time data caps. No word on AT&T yet.

New Camera Effects

As noted by iSpazio, iOS 4.3 beta 1 firmware files hints at some references to new effect in the Camera app. The effects are; Thermal Camera, X-ray, Kaleidoscope, Normal, Tunnel of Light, Collapse, Turbine, and Enlarge.

New FaceTime Icon, Full Screen iAds

As reported by 9to5mac, iOS 4.3 brings a groovy, new FaceTime icon (above) as well as a new full-screen iAd banners and adds Airplay and Apple TV services (not apps on Apple TV -- yet) for apps. Specifically:
AirPlay Video support is now available as an option for developers in the MPMoviePlayerController class. It is also available to web authors via the QuickTime Plug-In or media element

Brings Back Orientation Lock

It seems like Steve Jobs changed his mind and decided to bring a new setting lets you choose for the switch to be an orientation lock or the new mute switch (via MacStories):

iPhone 3G and iPod touch Support Drop

As we reported, iPhone 3G and iPod touch 2G have been discontinued as of iOS 4.3. Both of the devices are not listed anymore on the iOS developer website. This indicates that the latest iOS build for iPhone 3G and iPod touch may be iOS 4.2.1.

Apple Removing Home Button on iPad 2 and iPhone 5

0
According to BGR sources, Apple is few steps away from making a significant change on iPad 2 and iPhone 5, as Apple will drop the home button on the both devices. The source has mentioned that Apple added multitouch gestures for iPad in the latest iOS 4.3 beta is because the iPad will be losing the home button.

We have exclusively been told that the reason Apple just added multitouch gestures for the iPad in the latest iOS 4.3 beta is because the iPad will be losing the home button. Yes, we are told that Apple, at some point in time, will remove the home button from the iPad’s design. Instead of button taps, you will use new multitouch gestures to navigate to the home screen and also to launch the app switcher.

That’s not all, however. In addition to the home button disappearing from the iPad, we’re told that this change will make its way over to the iPhone as well. Our source said Apple employees are already testing iPads and iPhones with no home buttons on the Apple campus, and it’s possible we will see this new change materialize with the next-generation iPad and iPhone devices set to launch this year.

Additionally, we’re told Apple’s popular photo-taking application, Photo Booth, will be appearing on the next iPad. It’s also very possible that we’ll see iLife apps for iOS unveiled around the iPad 2 release as well.

It has been said that Steve Jobs didn’t want any physical buttons on the original iPhone at first, and it looks like he may soon get his wish.

Samsung Galaxy S2 leakes a photo and some specs... again

0
More rumors about the successor of the Galaxy S appear on the radar. This time a Korean newspaper focuses our attention to the Galaxy S2 by “leaking” a photo of it, accompanied by some specifications.
It’s logical to assume that Samsung is going to announce the successor to the Galaxy S at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. However, we are not exactly sure whether it’s going to look like this.
A couple of months ago we reported yet another rumor of the Galaxy S2 from what looked like Sammy’s leaked slides. Though the credibility of the slides is yet to be confirmed, we'd bet our money on the design offered there to be the real European-spec Galaxy S2. But who knows, that one here may be a regional version for either S. Korea or the US.
Back to the leak at hand, according to the Korean newspaper, the Galaxy S2 is going to run the latest version of Android 2.3 Gingerbread, powered by a dual-core processor with unknown clock speed, a 4.3” sAMOLED plus screen (that's the next generation) and an NFC chip.
Whatever the truth about the Galaxy S2 may be, we’ll provide full coverage from the MWC 2011 so you’ll be the first to know everything about the device as soon as Samsung announces it.

27 percent of you think 4G is what the latest iPhone is called, survey shows

0

January 12th, 2011 byChip
According to 27% of the people that took part in the latest Nielsen survey 4G is what the latest iPhone is called. True story!
gsmarena 001 27 percent of you think 4G is what the latest iPhone is called, survey shows
With American carriers all keen to boast about their 4G networks to anyone who would listen, Nielsen decided to check how much people really know about 4G wireless tech. As it turned out 17% of the participants have never heard of it, while only 51% of the rest claimed to know what it means. Now that speaks volumes of the efficiency of those multi-million ad campaigns, doesn’t it?
And back to where we started, some 27% of the interviewed claimed that it was the name of the current iteration of the Apple iPhone. A new Android phone from T-Mobile was the answer of every 7th participant. Another 43% thought 4G stands for new devices that process data faster.
gsmarena 002 27 percent of you think 4G is what the latest iPhone is called, survey shows
Still there were 54% that said 4G was a network supposed to allow data transfer speeds of at least 100 Mbps, while 16% went for either LTE or WiMax. The other answers that I’m willing to rate as close enough are wireless internet at broadband speeds (49%) and mobile network upgrade for high-quality video streaming (45%).

4.2.5 Jailbreak Verizon iPhone 4 with SHAtter or Limera1n?

0
Interesting question to ask! Will the newly released Verizon iPhone 4 be jailbreakable? Well well well, Apple should fix death grip issues in the new Verizon iPhone 4 and to do this, it should port redesigned antenna system so that it works on CDMA network.

As most of you know, Limera1n exploit by iPhone hacker George Hotz can jailbreak any iOS device with the current bootrom so if Verizon iPhone 4 has the same current bootrom of iPhone 4, limera1n can be used to jailbreak it.

However, if the bootrom is different, Chronic Dev Team have their own exploit known as SHAtter which was saved in case if Apple changed the bootrom.

In brief, either Verizon iPhone 4 carries the current bootrom or new bootrom, it'll be absolutely jailbroken once it ships to the hackers. Stay tuned for more information as it comes !

iOS 4.2.1 untethered jailbreak good news , Andrea Cervone over iPhoneItalia was able to contact with Comex (the hacker behind JailbreakMe and Spirit), he asked him if he his untethered jailbreak solution for iOS 4.2.1 related to Verizon iPhone 4 official release which will be powered by iOS 4.2.5 ? Let's check out Comex's reply.

Andrea Cervone asking: So, if Apple releases iOS 4.2.5 on 10 February, you’ll preserver your new tool and exploits for that firmware? Maybe this will be a good move. Dev Team and Chronic Dev are releasing their tools for iOS 4.2.1, your can be saved for the future too.

Comex replying:
I hadn’t seen that.
Interesting.. but a month’s
A long time to wait.

iOS 4.3 to Arrive by January 19th?

0
iOS 4.3 may arrive by January 19th. As noted by MacRumors that Fobes has confirmed with a trusted source that the publication of "The Daily" will be formally announced on January 19th. The Daily will be a new journal specifically for iPad only with Apple support.

Mark your calendars, media nerds. Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2011 is the day it all changes. Maybe.

That's the planned launch date for The Daily, the iPad-only publication News Corp. has been feverishly developing. The company has yet to say boo about it, and a spokesman declined to comment when I asked him about the launch date, which comes via a News Corp. insider.
It's now highly expected that Apple will release iOS 4.3 with the arrival of this electronic journal "The Daily" by January 19th, as Apple has been said to be supporting The Daily with "recurring subscription payments" for iTunes accounts, this famous feature will only exist on the upcoming iOS 4.3. Anyway, let's wait and see. [via iSpazio]

Redsn0w 0.9.7b6 Fixes Skype Issues

0
The dev-team has just released Redsn0w 0.9.7b6 to untehtered jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1, the new beta has successfully fixed the Skype crashes, now it seems that now the redsn0w 0.9.7 is free of bugs.
The sixth beta is now available (testers ONLY please!). This version fixes Skype. Please do not pirate the 4.2b3 IPSW! Only those enrolled in the iPhone Developer program have legitimate access to that IPSW using these links (http://pastie.org/1403214) (the links won’t work unless you’re a legit developer currently logged in).

Unlike the last few betas, you can freely run beta6 over beta5 without a problem (but for testing purposes, we’d really like people to try both ways….from stock, and from already jailbroken).

Now that the sandbox, Bluetooth, and Skype issues are fixed, our next priority is porting Monte back to 4.1. We’ll also try to make the Windows version less painfully slow.
On the above quoted text section, dev-team confirmed that the next step is porting Monte which means that you will not be in need of 4.2b3 SHSH blobs to untethered your jailbreak on iOS 4.2.1 and to make the Windows version less painfully slow.

To use Redsn0w 0.9.7b6, use our guide posted here while removing usbmuxd steps since it doesn't required usbmuxd anymore.

GreenPois0n 4.2.1 for all iDevice(Soon)

0
As you know, iPhone Dev Team is working day and night to handle a qualified untethered Redsn0w 0.9.7 jailbreak,on the other side Chronic Dev Team member Joshua Hill behind GreenPois0n jailbreak has confirmed on his Twitter that the team will not release Greenpois0n until it will be untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1 .
p0sixninja: A lot of people are saying another tethered jailbreak is pointless, I agree. Focusing on getting untethered before release
Another point which may beat redsn0w, that this won't require SHHS blobs for 4.2b3 unlike the iPhone Dev Team's Redsn0w 0.9.7, according to a reply for someone asking if it is based on the same exploit Comex working on, and whether or not it will require SHSH blobs for 4.2b3 unlike Redsn0w 0.9.7.

0

Digg founder Kevin Rose today has received information from a reliable source claiming that Apple is going to announce the much waited iPad 2 within the next 3-4 weeks, possibly on February 1st, 2011. What's more interesting in the post, he says that another source told him that it will not feature Retina Display but instead is higher resolution screen with more dots per inch (DPI) in addition to dual cameras.
iPad 2 Mockup spotted at CES 2011
I have it on good authority that Apple will be announcing the iPad 2 in the next “3-4 weeks”, possibly Tuesday February 1st. The iPad 2 will feature a retina display and front/back cameras.
So we may see  iPad 2 on February 1st? Let's wait !
