Cydia Theme Center for iPhone Coming Soon

0
Saurik has released a revamped Theme Center for Cydia in coordination with MacCiti and implemented using the new Cydia 'whole package index'.
As I am not in charge of updating this area of Cydia (MacCiti/ModMyi are), users can actually expect to see new content on a biweekly (every two weeks, not twice a week) schedule. ;P
Right now, you will find a selection of themes from the top selling vendors in Cydia, as well as themes selected by the employees of MacCiti and ModMyi.
Currently, all nominations for additional Feature Themes, regardless of the repository they are hosted in, must be sent to either MacCiti or ModMyi.
However, Cydia 1.1, whose release is imminent, provides the additional platform hooks required to allow nominations directly from users to us.
We'll let you know when the new version is available. Before that, guys can have PandaHome for iPhone to have colorful themes for free!

Forget the White iPhone 4, How About a Clear One?

1

Check out the image above and the images below. One very crafty iPhone fan meticulously ripped his or her iPhone apart, and built a very custom transparent case to house it all. Very cool.

While I don’t advise anyone to attempt anything like this on their own (I’d destroy the device, for sure!), you have to give a *tip of the cap* and maybe even a *firm handshake* to the creator here. That’s some fine work. Very cool, indeed.

iPhone 5 Set to Launch on the Next Summer

0
Want to get iPhone 5? According to DigiTimes, the Chinese Economic Daily News is reporting that iPhone 5 will be launched by the next summer 2011. Moreover, the reports notes that Apple has added Foxconn Electronics, Foxlink, Gold Circuit Electronics (GCE) and Epistar as compnent suppliers
Foxconn will become the iPhone 5's new earphone supplier. Japan's Foster was the previous supplier, but a strengthening yen has spurred Apple to look for more cost-effective sources, the report said, noting that related orders are estimated at NT$5 billion (US$171.7 million). Foxlink will produce earphone jack sockets for the iPhone 5.
So far, it's not accurate ETA (estimate to arrival) for the new generation of iPhone, anyway I will update you once more information comes-in.

Apple Testing Multitouch Gestures for iPhone 4?

0
According to BGR source inside Apple, apparently Apple is internally testing iOS 4.3 multitouch gestures on iPhone 4 as well as iPad. The below screenshots, it looks like 4 or 5 fingers gestures are the same as the iPad in the first beta of iOS 4.3.

This is not shocking as Apple's will remove home button from next generation devices (iPhone 5 and iPad 2). Engadget thinks that the iPhone 4 could have a bigger screen or it could just be placeholder text from iPad and less fingers will be required if it goes primetime.

As most of you know, Apple won't make this multitouch gestures available in the public release of iOS 4.3. So, why are those gestures? Well well well, may be iOS 5?

We've received information today from a source sharing the above screenshot claimed to be from a Best Buy inventory database showing both 16 GB and 32 GB white iPhone 4 models listed with expected in-stock dates of February 27th. The SKU and model numbers associated with the entries are identical to those previously used by Best Buy when it was taking pre-orders for the white iPhone 4 prior to last summer's launch, pre-orders that were canceled when Apple delayed availability of the white versions.
Whatever was that, it claims the near arrival of the much waited white iPhone 4 to the world. May be in Apple's conference which was announced few moments ago in their press release?

The next Android version might flaunt some sort of Google Music sync

0

Now here’s an intriguing Android screenshot. You notice that Sync Music option down there? Yep, I thought so too.
Obviously Google is hard at work on some sort of cloud-based music-syncing service. My guess is it’s primarily for Chrome OS but it will obviously find place on all Android handsets out there. Or at least the ones with the proper Android version, right?
main The next Android version might flaunt some sort of Google Music sync
Unfortunately, so far we don’t know which OS version would that be. Since Android 2.3 Gingerbread is already out there, we’re guessing 2.4 Ice Cream Sandwich or whatever comes next. It could even be the tablet-oriented Honeycomb.
Either way, Google has already hinted the company is working on a cloud-based music service at last year’s Google I/O conference, so it’s only a matter of time until we see it up and running.

Nokia kills Ovi Music Unlimited, says DRM is the reason

0
Nokia has just announced that it's pulling the plug on its Ovi Music Unlimited service in most of the markets where it was available. China, India and Indonesia along with Brazil, Turkey and South Africa are the only exceptions, though they will probably follow suit sooner or later.
Apparently the Ovi Music Unlimited service never managed to live up to the expectations Nokia had for it. And that is, despite the fact that music giants like Universal Music, EMI, Warner Music Group and Sony were all a part of the project.
Nokia quotes the DRM-restricted nature of the music downloads and the lack of carrier support, as the main reasons for the fiasco. A Nokia spokesman was quoted by Reuters saying that "The markets clearly want a DRM-free music service."
Still if you have a running subscription to Ovi Music Unlimited, rest assured - you will be able to use the service for the full period of your subscription.

I have asked Tim Cook to be responsible for all of Apple’s day to day operations. I have great confidence that Tim and the rest of the executive management team will do a terrific job executing the exciting plans we have in place for 2011.

iPad 2 and iPhone 5 to Sport a Dual-Core GPU?

We all knew the rumors of a 2048x1536 high resolution screen of the upcoming iPad 2 which floated on the web the last few days, now, it makes sense to ask a question, what graphics processing unit (GPU) can adequately power iPad 2?, according to AppleInsider sources that iPad 2 and iPhone 5 will use a dual-core SGX543 GPU from "Imagination Technologies"
We all knew the rumors of a 2048x1536 high resoultion screen of the iPad which floated on the web the last few days, now, it makes sense to ask a question, what graphics processing unit (GPU) can adequately power iPad 2?, according to AppleInsider sources that iPad 2 and iPhone 5 will use a dual-core SGX543 GPU from "Imagination Technologies"

In other words, the SGX543 can have any number of cores from two to sixteen with no change in the driver software or the application. All that complex data/pipeline/thread management is done in hardware. No muss, no fuss.

iPad 2 May Come With 2048×1536 Screen Resolution

0
iPad 2
We’ve heard several rumors and speculations about Retina Display coming to the second generation iPad that is expected to be launched towards the end of March or April.
MacRumors have found new graphics in iBooks application with higher resolution labelled “iPadx2”, which indicates that iPad 2 may come with a display that has twice the resolution in both directions (2048x1536) of the current iPad (1024x768). This means that iPad 2 may come with a 2048x1536 screen resolution at 260 DPI compared to current iPad’s 1024x768 screen resolution at 132 DPI.

MacRumors speculates:
Based on Apple's marketing efforts for the original "Retina" display, it would suggest a DPI (dots per inch) greater than 300 to exceed the abilities of the human eye. A more practical approach would simply be doubling the resolution of the current iPad (1024x768) to 2048x1536 at a 260 DPI. While not quite a "Retina" display, it would follow with Apple's efforts to avoid fragmenting their product line. From a developer's perspective, the doubling of an existing resolution is much easier to support. Apple similarly doubled the iPhone's resolution from 480x320 to 960x640 when they introduced the iPhone 4. Like on the iPhone 4, older apps can will simply run pixel-doubled while native apps will take advantage of the full resolution of the new screens.
MacRumors goes on to add:
The "Retina" definition is based on a specific distance the device is being held from your eye. Since an iPad display would likely be held farther from your face, it would require a lower DPI to achieve the same effect.
This probably also explains why Apple is planning to use the next generation GPU in future iOS devices and a Cortex A9-based multicore processor (to be dubbed the Apple A5) instead of the current Apple A4 processor, which is a single-core Cortex A8 processor..

iPad 2 and iPhone 5, Everything You Need to Know

0
Here's a very interesting report posted last night by Joshua Topolsky, editor-in-chief of Engadget, reveals new details about Apple's next products scheduled for 2011. Talking about iPad 2, iPhone 5 and the next generation Apple TV. Engadget has a pretty solid track record with their Apple scoops and the details will surprise you.
The sources claims that iPad 2 will feature a higher resolution screen with Retina Display, the same as iPhone 4’s one. Couple of days back, Kevin Rose of Digg has revealed some information including that it will feature higher resolution screen without being Retina Display.

Engadget also reports that the iPad 2 will get a SD card slot, yeah, that big hole we’ve already seen in leaked cases. The iPad 2 is set to come out in April, won’t feature a USB port and will be “lighter”.

About iPhone 5! Engadget reports that the iPhone 5 will be a “completely re-designed handset,” and will feature Apple’s new CPU, A5. The iPhone 5 is on track for a summer launch and it’s being tested discreetly by senior staff at Apple. Both iPhone 5 and iPad 2 will feature a Qualcomm chipset that does triple duty as the CDMA / GSM / UMTS baseband processor.

Last and not least, Apple is working on the next generation of Apple TV, which will include the speedy A5 chip from the iPhone 5 and that the chip is powerful enough to bring 1080P video to Apple’s TV.
